Vision. Our most treasured sense. The most significant avenue of negotiation with our reality. Moderate and severe visual impairment, when left uncorrected, makes functioning in many societies nearly impossible. There are 285 million people in the world that suffer from visual impairment and of these cases, four out of five are treatable with a simple surgery or a pair of glasses. The restoration of sight changes not only the lives of the patients but the communities around them, who must create support systems to aid in the daily lives of the visually impaired.
