Pearson Ripley is a documentary storyteller working in both still photography and video. Born in San Francisco and raised in North Carolina, Pearson spent much of his life around cameras before finding his way to documentary photography. Social and political concerns direct the focus of his work. By exploring new forms and techniques, he is always searching for a balance between his own voice and that of his participants. Pearson is an adjunct professor of photography at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.
